Federer and Odermatt Return for Sunrise in New Campaign: A Call for Real-Life Connections

Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer and skiing champion Marco Odermatt are back in the spotlight for Sunrise, following the success of their first campaign, “Elevator.” The original ad, directed by Martin Werner, humorously highlighted the modern struggle of being glued to phones and missing out on spontaneous real-life moments – like sharing an elevator with Federer and Odermatt. Its tagline, “Life is full of surprises – you just need to see them,” resonated with audiences, delivering a clever message about the value of being present.

In the new campaign, directed by Adam Hashemi, Federer and Odermatt meet again – this time at an airport. The commercial kicks off with the airport staff announcing the last boarding call for Odermatt’s flight. Excited travellers rush to the gate, hoping to catch a glimpse of the skiing star. Moments later, Federer’s last call is announced, prompting a crowd to scramble to another gate. The clever twist comes when both athletes, oblivious to the rush around them, lose track of time while enjoying a relaxed, real-life conversation in the airport lounge.

Created by Zurich-based agency Thjnk, the Sunrise campaigns are a striking reminder of how easily people miss meaningful moments by being too focused on their phones or racing to the next destination. The ads blend humour with a subtle but powerful message, encouraging viewers to be more present in their everyday lives.
